2004 is going to be an aggressive year as we continue to push for the completion of a comprehensive zoning book. The book has been prepared and is being reviewed by Brimfield Zoning Commission. This book with insight from many in the community will finally give the community a well thought-out road map that will control growth in our township. With this tool, a weapon has been created to prevent what has happened in other communities, where development has outpaced common sense at the expense of the residents who moved into a situation they never imagined and never wanted.

We have a new board member, Sue Fields, a former trustee with 5 years under her belt. Sue will be adding her keen insight and experience from Workers Comp; helping us trim the budget and find additional needed income. With Sue on board, this enables us to have scheduled office hours. Scheduled office hours are for the residents or business owners to meet a trustee and talk one on one. Contact Carole Nelson for the office hours.

What you don’t want to hear is that this year we have not been selected for Issue 2 funds which help pave roads in our communities, and with the shortfall in the townships overall budget, NO roads will be paved in 2004. We will aggressively compete for Issue 2 funds for 2005 when we will be looking into the possibility of paving Powdermill which is long overdue.

In closing, with this new Zoning book and JEDDS on the horizon, if anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to call Dick Messner at 330-678-0739 or myself for the answers you seek.

On behalf of the township, I would like to thank the Brimfield Chamber and the Central Portage Visitors Bureau for their donations towards the Township Website. I, for one, cannot stress the importance of such a site for educating the public; we all need to be informed.
