Monthly Dept. Reports
Police Department Report | Fire Department Report
Police
Department Report The Police Department is at 7,000 calls for service to date. Last year on this date we had 5,936 calls for service. We have arrested 500 people to date this year. Last year on this date we had arrested 373. The Police Department has started the Threat and Vulnerability Assessments for the Field School Buildings, Town Hall and the Police Department. These should be completed by the end of summer, depending on call volume and other work which needs completed. Pursuant to the recent promotional posting, I am recommending that the Board promote Sgt. William Reese to the rank of Executive Captain. Sgt. Reese has displayed the initiative, team oriented attitude and willingness to complete assigned tasks over and above his responsibilities. Sgt. Reese has performed a myriad of jobs within the police department, including evidence technician, inventory, scheduling and more. Sgt. Reese is also responsible for the execution of many of our community oriented policing efforts, including Shop with a Cop and the senior check program. I would like to swear him in as Captain during today’s business meeting.

· I would like to encourage all Brimfield residents and businesses to sign up for Code Red emergency warning system. This can be done online at www.brimfieldohio.com. In addition, be certain to check the box to receive Code Red Weather Warning. This is an optional feature available to all residents. Requests:
· Recommend that the Board accept a letter of resignation from Russell Vereshack, part-time firefighter/EMT. A copy of his letter is attached.
· Recommend that the Board provide a letter of commitment for a grant application to the Ohio Department of Development, for their Local Government Services and Regional Collaboration Grant Program. If approved, the grant will provide the Portage Area Fire & EMS Research Study Committee (PAFERS) with 90-100% funding to conduct a feasibility study of between 7-9 communities in Portage County, not to exceed $80,000. You might recall that Brimfield Township has been participating in PAFERS for the past 1½ years exploring resource sharing and consolidation options for the fire service. Board President, Sue Fields has been the Board representative to the study group.
· Request an executive session to discuss negotiations.
