Brimfield Parks and Recreation Department's "Kids In Karate" KIK class in Brimfield recently saw two of its assistant instructors achieve the rank of First Degree Junior Black Belt. Alex Latina and Daniel McIlduff have been assistant instructors in Brimfield for over a year and in the martial arts program through Parks and Rec and Free Spirit Karate since 2004. Both young men are students at Stanton Middle School. Pictured with Daniel and Alex are Christopher Aiken, instructor in Brimfield and Robert Parker, head instructor for branches in Brimfield, Kent and Richfield. Classes continue year round in Brimfield on Monday evenings at 6pm at Brimfield Elementary.
 


Build coordination, agility, strength, self-confidence and discipline through this program. Tae Kwon Do is a Korean style of martial arts specializing in self defense. Directed by Grandmaster Jon Stephens of Free Spirit Karate, Inc., this structured program improves sports ability, performance and social being as well as self defense.

Class is taught in 8 week sessions and continues throughout the year. Opportunity for rank promotion occurs quarterly. Dobocks are available from the instructor.
